Marcel Buthelezi
CEO
Marcel Buthelezi was born in Johannesburg and is an alumnus of Alexander Sinton High School in Cape Town. Marcel holds an honours degree in B.Arts and has served on the boards of several companies, and joined Mining Afrique in 2021. . Prior to this, he is a community leader who served as a member of parliament and one time deputy general secretary of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM). Additionally, his experience includes years in the retail, gaming, property, and investment banking sectors.

Mathew Mokoena
General Manager.
Mathew Mokoena was born in 1974 in the city of Johannesburg. He matriculated at Pretoria Boys High in 1992. He completed to his BSc Mining Engineering degree at the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) in 1996. In 2006 he obtained his Masters in Engineering and in 2012 he obtained his MBA from the University of Warwick (UK). He’s been part of the mining industry since 1993. He started his career on the deep level gold mines, where after he moved across to De Beers at Cullinan where he gained invaluable underground experience in cave mining. He then joined Gem Diamonds and did a stint in Botswana . He became part of the Petra Mining team in 2013 and the Mining Afrique team in 2021. His years of hands-on experience in mining provide incredible insight and value to the Mining Afrique management team. Mathew loves spending his time outdoors and is a mountain-biking, horse-riding and birdwatching enthusiast.

Lebo Sisilu
Chief Financial Officer.
Lebo Sisilu was born in 1983 in the town of Kimberley. She matriculated in 2001 at Northern Cape High School. She obtained her B.Com Chartered Accounting (Honours) degree from the North-West University in 2005 and completed her articles at PwC from 2006 – 2009. Lebo was registered as a qualified Chartered Accountant – CA (SA) with SAICA in 2009. She is the CFO of Mining Afrique. Suzanne has an eye for an excellent photograph and enjoys taking pictures of wildlife.

Abraham Sibeko
Abraham Sibeko was born in 1961 in the city of Johannesburg. He matriculated at Christian Brothers College in Pretoria in 1979. After completing his military service, where he qualified as a diver in the South African Navy, Abraham dived on the West Coast for diamonds before enrolling at the Cape Technikon for a Civil Engineering Diploma and National Higher Diploma, which he obtained in 1989. He worked in the United Kingdom as a freelance Civil Engineer for Eight years before returning to South Africa in 1998 to join Super Stone Mining as a Director and later joined politics. He served as a special assistant to former president Thabo Mbeki. He is currently a Director and shareholder of Mining Afrique and is the Surface Mining Manager.
